2022 fashion is all about retro and nostalgia, this year brought back the biggest trends from Y2K and we all went crazy for it.

There is no shadow of doubt that Y2K fashion reigned this 2022 and we are all for it. Spotlight-stealing attire with a joyous mood took over our wardrobe, from vivid colours and prints to bold silhouettes like bubble dresses, volume or oversized tops, micro mini skirts, and ultra-low rises on pants and uber bright tops and knitwear and more.

Accessories did not lose their timeless appeal, too. Making a comeback are: chunky platforms, rainbow-bright bags, and over the top jewellery aesthetic combining silver, pearls, and rhinestone-decked baubles.

Low- rise pants

Did you know about the denim trend that ruled the 2022 runways? Nothing but  ultra-low-rise jeans in baggy, oversized silhouettes. The polarising style has been gaining steam over the past few seasons, but many global fashion brands have proved that the revival of low-slung denim is not some blip on the fashion radar—it’s here to stay.

The low-slung jean returns with a better, body-inclusive point of view. Low-slung denim is no longer exclusive to a certain few, and the silhouette is now as non fussy and oversized as it is low-waisted. 

Mini skirts

The miniskirt first gained popularity in the ’60s and ’70s as a playful and even defiant garment representing a shift in societal dynamics. In 2022 the resurgence of the mini- and microskirt feels like a response to pandemic-caused restrictions. We must bare something else if we are to cover our faces, right?

Oversized jackets

Tiny blazers not your vibe? Oversized jackets aren't going anywhere anytime soon. Executed best in black, they work well in tan and white too. Pair with denim, easy skirts, knit dresses, or coordinating pants—in other words, almost anything.
